Herons 3 36"x36"

Herons 3   36x36 Paper, Acrylic, Graphite and Crayon on Canvas (Painted Gallery Wrap)

Standing or swooping, Herons have a stately grandeur that I have always seen as making them coastal royalty.  Once, I surprised one while riding my bike on a coastal trail.  It was standing at the end of a decrepit bridge.  I was unaware of it's presence until I quickly dismounted my bike to lift up onto the bridge.  The Heron spread it's wings to easily a 6 foot wing span and as it flew away, I felt it's wind on my face.  From a distance they almost seem dainty.  Up close, it was a prehistoric bird king.
